The Return of Cody Bellinger to the Chicago Cubs Lineup

After a stint on the injured list due to a rib injury sustained during a collision with the wall at Wrigley Field in April, Cody Bellinger is making his return to the Chicago Cubs lineup. Despite not being fully healed yet, Bellinger is eager to contribute to the team’s success both as a designated hitter and in the outfield.

Bellinger’s return brings a much-needed offensive boost to the Cubs, as he was hitting .226 with five home runs before his injury. The team has the option to play him at first base, but the plan is to eventually place him back in center field. Manager Craig Counsell emphasizes the importance of having the best players on the field to maximize the team’s performance.

In order to make room for Bellinger on the roster, outfielder Alexander Canario was optioned to Triple-A Iowa. Additionally, pitcher Daniel Palencia was placed on the injured list due to pain in his right shoulder, and right-hander Keegan Thompson was recalled from Triple-A as his replacement. Right fielder Seiya Suzuki, who has been out since mid-April with a right oblique injury, will begin a rehab assignment before rejoining the Cubs in Pittsburgh.

As Bellinger prepares to return to the field, the Cubs are optimistic about the impact he can have on the team’s performance. With his offensive prowess and defensive skills, Bellinger’s presence in the lineup is expected to bolster the Cubs’ chances of success as they continue their push towards the postseason. Fans eagerly anticipate seeing Bellinger back in action and contributing to the team’s success.
