The Phoenix Suns Bring Back O’Neale and Bol for the Upcoming Season

The Phoenix Suns have secured a four-year, $44 million deal with free agent forward Royce O’Neale, according to sources close to the team. O’Neale, who is 31 years old, finished the previous season with the Suns after a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. The 6-foot-4 wing player proved to be a valuable addition to the team, providing much-needed perimeter defense and enhancing the shooting capabilities around star players Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Known for his ability to shoot 38.1% from the 3-point line over his seven-year NBA career, O’Neale has also gained experience by participating in nearly 50 postseason games. This new contract comes after completing a four-year, $36 million deal with the Utah Jazz in 2020.

Bol Bol’s Return to Phoenix

In addition to O’Neale’s contract extension, the Suns have also decided to retain forward/center Bol Bol on a one-year deal. Bol, who is 24 years old, had a slow start with the team last season but eventually worked his way into the rotation in February. Standing at an impressive 7-foot-3, Bol showcases versatile skills on the court, including his ability to handle the ball and make highlight-reel plays. Despite limited playing time in Phoenix, Bol managed to achieve career-high shooting percentages in the 2022-23 season, with 61.6% from the field and 42.3% from beyond the arc. Previously, Bol played for the Orlando Magic where he averaged a career-high of 21.5 minutes per game before joining the Suns on a one-year, $2 million deal.

Overall, the Phoenix Suns have made strategic moves by re-signing Royce O’Neale and Bol Bol for the upcoming season. These additions will undoubtedly strengthen the team’s roster and provide valuable depth as they strive for success in the competitive NBA landscape. With O’Neale’s defensive prowess and shooting abilities, along with Bol’s versatile skill set and fan-favorite status, the Suns are looking towards a promising future filled with potential for growth and achievement.
