The Lions Sign Amon-Ra St. Brown to Historic Contract Extension

The Detroit Lions made headlines by agreeing to a four-year, $120 million extension with star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. This deal includes an astonishing $77 million guaranteed, making it the most guaranteed money for a wide receiver in a single contract in NFL history. St. Brown took to Instagram to express his excitement, stating, “I can’t wait. I’m here, four more years.”

While attention is now focused on St. Brown’s extension, the Lions are also in discussions with veteran quarterback Jared Goff regarding a potential contract extension. As Goff enters the final year of his current contract, both parties are eager to reach an agreement. Goff, who was traded from the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, has expressed a desire to remain with the Lions.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, at just 24 years old, has quickly established himself as one of the league’s top wide receivers. Coming off a season where he set career highs with 119 catches, 1,515 yards, and 10 touchdowns, St. Brown was named a first-team All-Pro. Additionally, he has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of the past two seasons. His consistency is evident in being one of only three players in NFL history to have 90 or more receptions in each of his first three seasons, alongside Odell Beckham Jr. and Michael Thomas.

John Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown’s father, expressed his pride in his son’s accomplishments, highlighting the anticipation leading up to the contract extension. St. Brown himself shared his lofty goals for the upcoming season, emphasizing his desire to win a Super Bowl. After helping the Lions reach the NFC Championship Game for the first time in 32 years, St. Brown is determined to take the next step and secure a championship for his team.

As Detroit gears up to host its first-ever NFL draft, Amon-Ra St. Brown is set to take part in various community engagements and appearances. From meeting with military members through USAA to serving pizza to the local community, St. Brown remains actively involved off the field. Despite his busy schedule, St. Brown is focused on the ultimate goal of bringing a Super Bowl title to Detroit and is eager to begin the journey towards achieving that dream.
